Single Egyptian Bracelets
Each center scarab bead on these bracelets was purchased by me personally while exploring Egypt. I had the opportunity to meet with the family to learn how they were glazed and fired. Using their very primitive outdoor kiln. With no thermostat or thermometers being used they simply use instinct and experience to determine when the pieces are ready. We have a very limited number of these beads for this collection. No two scarabs are the same as they are all hand carved. In Ancient Egypt the scarab modeled after a common beetle was commonly used as an amulet and seal. It represented eternal renewal and rebirth the meaning of which was based on the observation of the beetle’s habit of pushing a dung ball across the sands from East to West on the same path as the sun which was reborn everyday. The beetle would bury the dung ball in the sand and from it would emerge a fully developed beetle representing eternal renewal. The scarab was also closely associated with the God Kepri, the creator-god who was swallowed by his mother Nut each night and reborn each morning bringing a new beginning to each day and resurrection. For anyone seeking change and rejuvenation the scarab is the perfect amulet. $5 from the sale of each bracelet will be donated to the Polish Egyptian Mission, the Temple of Hatshepsut, Deir el Bahri, Luxor Egypt. Each one comes with a gift box and sample oil.
