It's getting hot and it's important to stay hydrated!! While Gatorade and other sports drinks have been marketed as the ultimate way to do so because they contain electrolytes they are not the best choice! Although they do in fact contain electrolytes they also contain on an average 56 grams of sugar and food dyes such as Red No. 40, Blue No. 1, and Yellow No. 5 which are derived from petroleum and have been linked to cancer. Water remains the best source of hydration, and foods like fresh fruits and vegetables are the best source of electrolyte replacement. Try to drink 8 glasses of water throughout the day instead of waiting until your thirsty because thirst is a sign your body is already dehydrated. Water not only hydrates the body but helps your organs function efficiently and keeps your hair silky, nails strong and skin radiant so grab a tall glass of water and add some exotic blends!
